Brayson Blanton and Lauren Evans, seniors from Poplar Springs High School, have been recognized as the Student-Athletes of the Week by the Holmes County Advertiser, with sponsorship from Jump Street Inflatables. These two dedicated students excel both in athletics and in their future career pursuits, making a positive impact in their school and community.
Brayson Blanton, 17, is a six-year varsity baseball player for Poplar Springs High School, where he has established himself as a skilled centerfielder. Beyond the field, Brayson is actively involved in his family’s farming operations and spends time with family and friends. Though he has enjoyed a fulfilling baseball career, Brayson does not plan to pursue sports at the collegiate level. Instead, he looks forward to continuing his work in farming and is preparing for a career in welding, having earned a scholarship from Western Welding Academy to support his goals.
Brayson’s parents, Amanda and Jason Blanton, are incredibly proud of his accomplishments, both in baseball and in his plans for a future in welding. His commitment to his family, work, and personal goals stands as an inspiration to his peers at Poplar Springs High.
Lauren Evans, also 17, is a dedicated athlete and leader at Poplar Springs High School, participating in cheerleading for four years and weightlifting for two years. As a cheerleading base, Lauren has been an integral part of her team’s success and spirit. Alongside her sports involvement, Lauren is an active member of Senior Beta and FBLA, both for four years, and enjoys spending time with friends, painting, and being involved in her church community.
After graduation, Lauren plans to attend Wallace Community College in Dothan to pursue a degree in dermatology, combining her passion for health and helping others.
