According to a release from the Bonifay Police Department (BPD), on Saturday, July 11, officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on an unregistered KTM dirt bike being operated without required equipment on a public roadway.

The driver refused to stop, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit through the City of Bonifay. During the pursuit, the driver committed numerous traffic violations, including running multiple stop signs and a red light, reaching speeds exceeding 80 mph, driving recklessly through residential and business areas, — creating a significant danger to the public.

The pursuit ended when officers successfully stopped the dirt bike and took the driver into custody without injury to the suspect, officers, or the public.

The driver, identified as Lance Evans, was charged with:

* Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding

* Reckless Driving

* Driving While License Suspended or Revoked

* Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle on the Roadway

* Operating a Motorcycle Without a Motorcycle Endorsement

The department stated it remains committed to protecting the community and holding those who endanger the safety of others accountable. BPD also thanked the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office for its assistance in the case.
