A Fort Walton Beach man was taken into custody Tuesday, September 16, after deputies say he was caught driving more than 30 miles per hour over the speed limit while impaired.
According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on patrol along Highway 81 observed a vehicle traveling 90 mph in a posted 55 mph zone. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver was identified as Daniel Tingle of Fort Walton Beach.
During the stop, the deputy reported several signs of impairment. Tingle allegedly admitted he did not possess a valid driver’s license and confirmed he was currently out on bond following a DUI arrest in June of this year.
Field sobriety exercises were conducted, which authorities say Tingle failed. He was subsequently arrested and transported to the Holmes County Jail, where he provided breath samples registering .297 and .292 blood alcohol content—more than three times Florida’s legal limit of .08.
Tingle now faces charges of:
- Driving Under the Influence
- Driving While License Suspended
- Excessive Speed
The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office has not released further details at this time.
