Holmes County residents and visitors will soon have the opportunity to enjoy a full weekend of community activities as the Down Home Street Festival returns later this month, bringing food, entertainment, vendors and special events to the area.
The Down Home Street Festival is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Bonifay, offering a day of family-friendly activities, local vendors, live entertainment, and community fellowship.
The festival highlights small businesses, craft vendors, food trucks and community organizations while providing attractions for all ages throughout the day.
Festival weekend will kick off the day before with the 19th Annual Holmes County Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament, scheduled for Friday, March 20 at Dogwood Lakes Golf Course in Bonifay.
The tournament will feature a $10,000 hole-in-one prize, along with $2,000 in cash prizes and additional awards. The annual tournament serves as one of the chamber’s major fundraising events and brings together local businesses, community leaders and golf enthusiasts from across the region.
In addition to the festival activities, organizers are partnering with Ponce de Leon Volunteer Fire and Rescue to host the Down Home Street Festival Car Show on Saturday, March 21along Veteran’s Boulevard in Bonifay.
Registration for the car show will take place from 8 to 10 a.m., with the event running until 1 p.m. A $20 entry fee per vehicle will be required, and winners will be announced at noon.
Awards will include Best in Show, Runner-Up, Fire Department Favorite and Top 10. Participants can also receive 10 free voting tickets for each new toy donated to the department’s Christmas Blessings Program.
Organizers say the car show adds another exciting attraction to the festival while also supporting a charitable cause within the community.
The Down Home Street Festival itself will feature numerous vendor booths, food vendors and activities designed to create a welcoming, small-town festival atmosphere. Community organizations, local businesses and public safety agencies are also expected to participate throughout the day.
The annual festival has become one of Holmes County’s most anticipated community gatherings, drawing residents and visitors together to celebrate local culture and support small businesses.
Admission to the festival is free, and organizers encourage families to come out, explore the vendor booths and enjoy a day of entertainment and activities.
