According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), David McCormick of Geneva, Alabama, was arrested on Tuesday, March 31, after deputies attempted a traffic stop on Highway 2A. Authorities said the driver refused to stop and accelerated, passing vehicles in a no-passing zone over double yellow lines.
Authorities said the pursuit continued northbound as the vehicle ran a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 185 and Highway 2A, then proceeded north on Highway 185. The vehicle eventually came to a stop at the state line on Highway 185.
According to HCSO, McCormick told deputies he fled because he became nervous and discarded methamphetamine from the vehicle during the pursuit. Deputies later located and recovered the substance.
McCormick was taken into custody and charged with fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, reckless driving, tampering with evidence, and possession of methamphetamine.
