The Holmes County Jail successfully completed an unannounced security and medical audit Friday, October 9, with no deficiencies identified, according to an announcement from the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.

The inspection, conducted without advance notice, evaluated security measures and medical operations at the detention facility. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the audit concluded with zero findings in either area.

The results were welcomed by jail leadership, who credited the facility’s corrections officers and medical personnel for their continued commitment to maintaining a safe, secure and professionally operated detention center.

In a public statement following the inspection, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office expressed its appreciation for the employees responsible for the facility’s daily operations.

“This is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and professionalism of our corrections staff and medical personnel who work every day to maintain a safe, secure, and properly operated facility,” the Sheriff John Tate stated.

Unannounced inspections provide an opportunity to evaluate a detention facility’s operations under normal working conditions, rather than during a scheduled review. Such assessments can help identify potential concerns involving security procedures, inmate care and operational practices.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that the inspection resulted in no findings requiring corrective action.

The Holmes County Jail, located at 3207 Lonny Lindsey Drive in Bonifay, operates under the leadership of Holmes County Sheriff John Tate and Jail Administrator Roy Wade.

The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that the results reflect the collective efforts of employees who work daily to maintain the facility’s operations and uphold professional standards.

“We are extremely proud of our team and the job they continue to do for Holmes County,” Tate stated.

The Sheriff’s Office concluded its announcement by congratulating the corrections and medical staff for their performance and encouraging them to continue their work.
