Holmes County residents will have two opportunities next week to meet local candidates and hear their plans for the community. Both the Bonifay Woman’s Club and the Holmes County Chamber of Commerce are hosting public events designed to give voters a closer look at those seeking county office.

The Holmes County Chamber of Commerce will hold its “Meet the Candidate” luncheon on Thursday, July 16, from noon to 1 p.m. at 401 McLaughlin Avenue in Bonifay. The event is open to Chamber members and the public. Candidates running for county offices will have the chance to introduce themselves and share their priorities for Holmes County. The Chamber is encouraging residents to attend to hear the candidates’ stances.

The following week, the Bonifay Woman’s Club will host the annual Holmes County Political Rally on Thursday, July 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bonifay K‑8 School cafeteria. The rally will feature candidate remarks and issue‑focused discussions. Hamburgers will be available for $10 and a cake auction will take place between forums. The Woman’s Club says the event is a great opportunity for residents to meet local candidates and hear their responses to some of the issues facing the county. Both events are open to the public and aim to encourage civic engagement ahead of the upcoming local elections. With two forums scheduled within days of each other, Holmes County voters will have multiple chances to connect with candidates and learn more about those seeking to represent them.
