Bonifay Fire‑Rescue (BFR) crews responded to a vehicle fire Wednesday, August 19, on County Road 173 just north of Little Rock Assembly of God Church. Firefighters arrived to find cardboard and other materials burning in the bed of a pickup truck.
Before crews reached the scene, Holmes District Schools Director of Transportation Shane Bush came upon the fire while returning from a bus call. Bush stopped, retrieved a fire extinguisher from his vehicle, and used it to help contain the flames. BFR said his quick action kept the fire limited to the truck’s contents and prevented it from spreading to the vehicle itself.
Fire‑Rescue personnel extinguished the remaining flames and checked the truck to ensure there was no further extension. No injuries were reported.
