BONIFAY – The Northwest Florida Championship Rodeo was held this past weekend, October 7-9 at Memorial Field in Bonifay.Â
The rodeo included all the events one would expect to see, such as barrel racing, bull riding and the kid favorite “mutton busting.”Â
Each
night hosted a different theme, Kids Night, Military Appreciation Night
and Tough Enough to Wear Pink which honors those battling breast
cancer.Â
Featured
this year was Roman and Trick Rider Jessica Blair who is also scheduled
to appear at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. WI-FMX Motorsports put on a breathtaking show during intermission.Â
At
its heart, the Northwest Championship Rodeo is a fundraiser, one that
Bonifay Kiwanis Club President Miranda Hudson says helps the youth of
Holmes County.Â
“This
is our biggest fundraiser of the year,” said Hudson. “We raise funds
for the youth of our community, to give scholarship to a graduating
senior as well as donations to different academic and sports programs within the community.”Â
After having to cancel the event in 2020 due to the pandemic, Hudson says she is thrilled to have every one back to enjoy the rodeo.
