Holmes County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Domestic Disturbance Leading to SWAT Intervention

On the evening of June 15, 2024, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a call reporting significant damage to property and escalating threats at a residence on Highway 90. According to the HCSO’s official Facebook page, the individual in question was identified as Brandon Bohannon.

Upon arrival, deputies found that Bohannon had caused substantial damage to water lines, an air conditioning unit, and other parts of his family’s home. Bohannon had barricaded himself inside a camper and was brandishing a spear, with which he threatened to “bash their heads in” should any deputies attempt to enter.

Despite efforts to negotiate a peaceful surrender, Bohannon remained hostile, hurling objects at the deputies. As the situation grew increasingly volatile, additional deputies were summoned, but their attempts at de-escalation were unsuccessful.

With the threat level escalating, the decision was made to call in the SWAT team. Upon arrival, SWAT members made a forcible entry into the camper and successfully apprehended Bohannon without incident. During the operation, a white powdery substance was discovered in plain view and was later confirmed to be methamphetamine.

Brandon Bohannon now faces multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, felony criminal mischief, possession of methamphetamine, and resisting arrest.

This incident underscores the challenges law enforcement faces when dealing with volatile situations involving potential substance abuse and threats of violence. The coordinated response by the HCSO and the SWAT team ensured a swift resolution, safeguarding both the officers and the community.
