Bethlehem High School educators enhance skills through specialized drone training

Bethlehem High School educators, Kaycee Valcourt and David Williams, recently participated in an extensive drone programming and pilot training session aimed at bolstering the “Drones in School” initiative within Holmes County Schools. This initiative, designed to bring the excitement of drone racing into classrooms and after-school programs, aligns with the ongoing commitment to integrating cutting-edge technology into educational environments.

The “Drones in School” program offers students a unique opportunity to develop their technical skills through the use of small-scale drone technology, all within a controlled and scalable environment. This initiative is particularly notable for its inclusivity, being free and open to all educational institutions.

Upon establishing their teams, schools will be eligible to apply for financial support at similar levels to those provided by Florida Power and Light’s robotics sponsorship program. This support aims to sustain and expand the reach of drone technology education, ensuring that students from grades 6-12 do not miss out on this remarkable opportunity.

“The “Drones in School” initiative not only enhances students’ technical abilities,” explained Valcourt. “But also inspires a new generation of learners to explore and engage with emerging technologies.”
