Ponce De Leon Fire Department asks for help with their annual Christmas Blessing Program

The Ponce De Leon Fire Department has asked for the public’s help gathering supplies for their Christmas Blessings Program.

“This program is used to help parents/guardians in our area who need a hand-up to give the children in their home a Christmas.” said Gynell Pettis-Hunter, PDLVFD Public Relations LT.

“We have grown from helping 12 our first year in 2018, to helping 24 last year. This is my legacy; my lifelong dream and I am beyond grateful to belong to a fire department that not only supports this program but works as tirelessly as I do to make it a success.” said Pettis-Hunter.

Although the program takes place in December, donations are welcome at any time. With sales tax holidays coming up and school supplies already having deals, the department has asked the public for their help. They have asked for 30 boxes of Crayola 24 CT. crayons, 10 packs of Crayola colored pencils (12 or 24 CT), 10 Crayola 10 CT marker packs,20 coloring books, and 10 activity books.

“Each child receives a coat, set of warm clothing, pack of underclothing, pajamas, toothbrush, toothpaste, coloring book, crayons, reading book, blanket, and two toys from the child’s wish list.” said the department.

If you would like to help with donations to the department, donations can be dropped off or mailed to the station; 1580 Hwy. 90, Ponce De Leon, FL 32455.
