STAFF REPORT

Chipola College is set to get more than $375,000 through a Governor’s Florida Job Growth Grant Fund, Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office announced Wednesday, Oct. 4.

The grant is intended to ‘increase workforce training opportunities that support Florida’s automotive industry’ by funding the purchase and installation of up-to-date training equipment for the school’s automotive service technicians and mechanics program, according to the announcement.

‘This award to Chipola College will provide Floridians with valuable workforce skills to pursue a career in the automotive industry and will provide businesses with more access to local talent,’ DeSantis said.

Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly said Panhandle students ‘will be able to be trained on the machines they will use on the job as they enter the workforce.’
