The Town of Esto is gearing up for campaign season.
The rural Holmes County community will hold elections for two council seats on Dec. 4 for seats two and four on the Town Council. The election date is a Monday.
Candidate qualifications will happen in a five-day period from 8:00 a.m. on Oct. 30 through 1:00 p.m. on Nov. 3. Polls on election day will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. at Town Hall, 3312 Second Avenue South.
Seat two is currently occupied by Greg Wells, who was elected in 2020. Seat 4 is open and was held by Casey Laycox, who was elected in 2022, but Laycox had to resign in July after moving out of Esto.
Esto Town Clerk Ben Tew will also serve as the election supervisor and filing clerk. An outreach and administrative campaign publicizing and overseeing the election will be done which will include notifying eligible voters beforehand and certifying results after votes are in.
‘The Esto Town Council encourages all eligible residents to participate actively in this election, exercising their right to vote and contribute to the democratic process,’ an ordinance establishing the election read.
