Gifts are needed for a local Adopt a Grandparent program, which distributes Christmas gifts to senior citizens in a Bonifay assisted living facility (ALF).
Jessica Green and her sister started the program several years ago for the local area. She works to gather gifts “as much as possible” throughout the year.
The Bonifay facility they work with houses 19 female and 34 male residents.
“Most people you find in these homes are alone and even though the owners and staff do as much as possible for the residents, it comes out of their pockets as well,” Green said.
Monetary donations can be sent on Cash App at $irbzeb, Venmo @irbzeb, or PayPal at [email protected]. People can also buy a gift and meet up to donate.
“Great gift ideas are blankets, beanies, gloves, body wash sets, lotions, etc. No sharp or hazardous items, please,” Green said. “Please send an email to [email protected] or text Jessi at 850-628-9579 to arrange a pickup time and location.”
Green is working on finding drop-off locations. Businesses are welcome to contact Green if they want to be a drop-off location.
“The joy we have been able to bring to these residents during Christmas is amazing!” Green said. “We want you to be a part of that joy.”
