Tampa driver passes away after single-vehicle wreck

A 53-year-old man from Tampa died Wednesday, April 24, after his vehicle crashed into a tree while driving on the I-10 in Holmes County.

The Tampa man was going west on the outside in a semi-truck with a trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

“The semi for unknown reason left the roadway traveling onto the north shoulder,” a FHP news release said. “Once on the shoulder, the semi collided with a tree. The driver was pronounced deceased on scene by Holmes County EMS.”

The collision occurred around 8:35 a.m. Notification of next of kin is pending.
