City of Bonifay hires new public works director

At a meeting Monday, May 20, the Bonifay City Council unanimously voted to appoint Aaron Taylor as the new public works director. Taylor, bringing over 13 years of experience to the role, will officially commence his duties at the beginning of June.

The former public works director, Trey Barbee, has transitioned to a new role as the public works director for Washington County.

According to the job posting, the public works director’s responsibilities encompass managing budgets, supervising staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering stakeholder relationships. 

“This role requires strong leadership, project management skills, and the ability to work in diverse environments, both in the field and in the office,” the posting detailed.

Additionally, the job description outlined that the director would “oversee a diverse range of projects, from road maintenance to stormwater management, working closely with city departments and community stakeholders to address current needs and plan for future growth.” 

The role also involves regulatory compliance, record keeping, and safety oversight.
