Accident leaves one dead

A Geneva, Alabama man has died in an accident on Highway 2 in Holmes County according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The 57-year-old man was driving east on Highway 2 pulling a livestock trailer behind his pickup truck when for unknown reasons the vehicle traveled off the roadway onto the south shoulder. The truck continued east into a residential yard where the left front of the truck struck a tree. As a result of the impact, the trailer jack-knifed and struck the same tree.

The truck came to final rest facing southeast in the yard and the trailer came to rest in the same jack-knifed position adjacent to the truck.

According to FHP the driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the 61-year-old female passenger sustained minor injuries. Both were wearing seatbelts. FHP states that next of kin notification was made on scene.
