The Ponce de Leon Volunteer Fire Department has announced the acquisition of a 1992 Pierce Heavy Rescue apparatus, expanding the department’s emergency response capabilities.
According to a release from the department, the vehicle was purchased from the Betterton Volunteer Fire Department in Maryland. Fire Chief Remmel coordinated the acquisition, with support from Firefighter Elect and Fleet Manager Greg Schackow, who assisted in transporting the vehicle back to Florida.
The department states that the addition of the heavy rescue unit will enhance operational readiness and improve service to the community during emergency incidents.
The Ponce de Leon Volunteer Fire Department expressed appreciation to the Betterton Volunteer Fire Department for facilitating the sale.
