STAFF REPORT
Around 11:30 p.m. December 26, 2024, Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputies responded to an alarm activation at the Express Lane convenience store in Esto.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the store’s front door had been shattered.
Investigators responded and reviewed surveillance footage from the scene, which showed a white male using a hammer to break through the door, entering the store, and stealing several vape products before fleeing.
Following the trail of evidence, deputies tracked across the road, where some of the stolen vapes were found discarded on the ground.
Investigators continued to follow leads and ultimately located Corbin Chandler, a 13-year-old juvenile on Wiggler Lane, who was wearing clothing matching that seen in the surveillance footage.
Chandler confessed to investigators, admitting that he had walked to the store, broken in, stolen the vapes, and later discarded them.
Chandler was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, and criminal mischief.
