A routine traffic stop turned into a brief foot chase Friday, April 5, after a suspect attempted to flee from Holmes County deputies along Highway 177.
According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, deputies initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Shane Mullins, just north of Highway 2. Mullins initially pulled over onto the shoulder of the road but quickly exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Deputies pursued Mullins and were able to apprehend him shortly thereafter. A subsequent search of the area where Mullins ran revealed a glass pipe containing methamphetamine.
Mullins was taken into custody and is now facing several charges, including driving while his license was suspended, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest without violence, and tampering with evidence.
