Two Bonifay store clerks charged after undercover compliance check

Holmes County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Division charges two Bonifay convenience store clerks after an undercover compliance check found they illegally sold Kratom and THC products to an underage operative.

Two convenience store clerks in Bonifay are facing charges after an undercover compliance operation by the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) found they illegally sold restricted products to a minor.

According to an HCSO release, the agency’s Special Investigations Division launched the operation following several complaints alleging that local vape shops and convenience stores were selling items such as Kratom and THC-infused gummies to underage individuals. In response, investigators used an underage operative who attempted purchases at every business in Holmes County known to carry those products.

During the investigation, the Shell station near I-10 and the Exxon on Highway 90, reportedly sold the restricted items to the minor. The clerks identified as making the sales were Pulkumar Sevak and Raktul Siddhya.

Both individuals are facing charges of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Selling Products to a Prohibited Person Under the Legal Age.

Sheriff John Tate emphasized the seriousness of the violations and the agency’s continued focus on protecting local youth.

“While the sale of these products may be legal to adults under Florida law, it remains unlawful to sell them to anyone underage,” Sheriff Tate stated. “The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting the youth of our community and will continue enforcement efforts to ensure businesses follow the law.”

The Sheriff’s Office encouraged businesses to ensure all employees understand and comply with age-related sales restrictions.
