Holmes County 10U All-Stars rally late to defeat South Carolina

It was a nail-biting finish on Monday as the Holmes County 10U All-Stars pulled off a dramatic 5-4 walk-off victory over South Carolina in the closing moments of the game.

Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Holmes County sealed the comeback when Liam W. delivered a clutch bases-clearing triple, scoring three runs and sending the home crowd into celebration.

The win didn’t come easy. Holmes County found themselves in an early 4-0 deficit after South Carolina came out strong in the top of the first inning. Colin B. opened the scoring with a three-run double, followed by an RBI single from Huston C. to extend the lead.

Holmes County clawed their way back, chipping away at the lead before mounting the final-inning heroics. Liam W. was a key contributor at the plate, driving in three runs and going 1-for-3 on the day. Kendon P. led the team in hits, going a perfect 2-for-2.

On the mound, Avin T. turned in a stellar relief performance for Holmes County, pitching four and two-thirds scoreless innings. He struck out five, walked two, and allowed no hits. Cease P. started the game, throwing one and one-third innings, giving up three hits and four runs—three of them earned—while striking out three and walking one.

Holmes County’s resilient performance keeps their momentum alive, as they continue to show grit and determination deep into the tournament.
