Bonifay K-8 slides into school year with new playground equipment

Bonifay K8’s elementary educators, administrators, and faculty pose with First Federal Bank of Bonifay and Holmes County local queens after cutting new playground equipment’s ribbon.

Bonifay K-8’s elementary students can enjoy brand new playground equipment installed before the first day of school, August 12. Through a grant opportunity, the First Federal Foundation made it possible for Bonifay K-8 and the Holmes County Education Foundation to partner and deliver new equipment.

On August 7, school educators and administrators, First Federal Bank of Bonifay, Holmes County District School Board, and Holmes County pageant queens gathered to commemorate the opening of the playground with a ribbon cutting. In the next week, mulch and wood chips will be placed along with sun shades.

“I want to thank our kindergarten and first grade teams for encouraging students to raise money in this process,” said co-principal of Bonifay K-8, Tiffany Steverson. Steverson also touched on future plans of other playground equipment that will add to the first phase. “We have put a deposit down on two other similar playgrounds sets that we are hoping in the next three to five years can raise funds for,” said Steverson.
