Savannah
Goodman fought back from a slow start to earn one of three individual
qualifying spots in Tuesday, November 2, Region 1-1A golf tournament at St. Johns
Golf and Country Club in Jacksonville. Â
Goodman says her game play was a bit difficult to start, but to not give up because of it.
“I struggled getting comfortable with my driver all day on a narrow golf course,” said Goodman who won the District
1-1A tournament with an even par 72. “I have learned from prior
tournament play that a lot can happen in 18 holes and to keep
grinding on every shot. It is important to focus on the process instead
of the results.” Â
GoodmanÂ’s
77 placed her behind Addy Vogt (St. Johns Country Day) but ahead of
Patti Patterson (St. John Paul II) as the three individual qualifiers.
The Bolles School won the Region 1-1A team title, followed by Providence
and Episcopal. Â
Goodman will now move on to compete in the FHSAA State Finals on November 9-10 at Mission Inn Resort & Club at Howey-in-the-Hills. Â
Goodman
said that she is excited to advance as a freshman, “I am going to play
aggressive and try to shoot a low score. Hopefully, I can make the
panhandle proud.”
