The Holmes County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County Sheriff’s Office accepted a meaningful holiday donation this week as more than 400 handmade toys crafted by inmates at Holmes Correctional Institution were delivered to Sheriff Tate and Sheriff Crews.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the toys represent weeks of work and detailed craftsmanship from inmates participating in the institution’s woodworking program. Officials say the initiative not only supports positive skill-building for those incarcerated but also provides a heartfelt benefit to families across the community during the Christmas season.
“We are grateful for the hard work and craftsmanship that went into each toy,” the release stated, noting the importance of community partnerships that make efforts like this possible.
The Sheriff’s Office extended special appreciation to Warden Lykins and Mr. John White for their leadership and continued support of the program.
The toys will be distributed throughout the community as part of the agency’s holiday outreach efforts.
