On Sunday, July 5, a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Highway 79 for traffic violations, leading to the arrest of two individuals.

According to the sheriff’s department, as the deputy approached the vehicle, they observed marijuana plants in the bed of the truck. The driver was identified as Desiree Jones, while the passenger refused to identify himself and ignored repeated lawful commands to exit the vehicle. A backup deputy arrived and removed the passenger, later identified as David Albright.

A probable cause search of Albright revealed a methamphetamine pipe in his pocket. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle uncovered additional methamphetamine pipes and a backpack located next to a small child in the back seat. Inside the backpack, deputies found a plastic bag containing methamphetamine as well as ammunition.

Jones and Albright were both arrested and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Child Neglect/Child Endangerment.

Albright was additionally charged with Resisting an Officer Without Violence and Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon.

HCSO said it remains committed to aggressively pursuing those involved in illegal drug activity and protecting the safety and well-being of the children in our community.
