Holmes County showcases leadership, partnerships, and local pride at Rural County Days

Holmes County leadership made there round in Tallahassee last week during the Capitals annual Rural County Days event.

Holmes County Commissioners joined Bonifay municipal leadership in Tallahassee last week for the annual Rural County Days event, where local officials met with Florida State Representative Shane Abbott and Senator Jay Trumbull to discuss priorities and challenges facing the community. The meetings focused on advocating for rural needs, strengthening state and local partnerships, and identifying opportunities to support infrastructure, public services, and long-term growth across Holmes County and the City of Bonifay.

Holmes County Commissioners met with Jay Trumbull during Rural County Days in Tallahassee, including Commissioners Wade Ellenburg, Clint Erickson, and Wilmer Stafford, along with Project Director David Corbin, to discuss shared priorities, collaboration, and continued efforts to serve the Holmes County community.
Holmes County Chamber of Commerce Director Donna Meldon, joined by chamber members and Bonifay Mayor Larry Cook, hosted a welcoming display at the Capitol featuring Holmes County favorites from Some Moore Rinds and Big John’s Barbecue and Donuts, along with a drawing for two three-day passes to the Northwest Florida Championship Rodeo.
Members of the Holmes County Board of County Commissioners met with Representative Shane Abbott to discuss local needs and priorities, continuing open dialogue aimed at ensuring state-level decisions reflect the realities of Holmes County communities.
Bonifay Mayor Larry Cook shared a lighthearted moment while holding a Florida native alligator during Rural County Days, capturing both the spirit and unique character of Holmes County at the Capitol.
