The football team at Bonifay K-8 School has reason to celebrate.
The Blue Devils won their second consecutive conference championship on Oct. 19.
‘The team started out inexperienced with only one offensive and one defensive starter returning, ‘ head coach Brad Johnson said. ‘The team practiced hard and picked up on the things we wanted to do fairly quickly and played hard throughout the season. ‘
The championship game was against Blountstown Middle School, 20-12. Notable wins include a 42-0 victory against Roulhac Middle School and 38-0 against Vernon Middle School.
An initial game earlier in the season saw the Blue Devils scrape out an 18-14 victory against Blountstown.
‘Played a tough Blountstown team early and had a couple of real dogfights later in the season against Liberty County and Graceville that helped against Blountstown again in the championship game, ‘ Johnson said.
Johnson said he is ‘proud of the players putting in the work ‘ that brought them another conference championship and undefeated season.
‘I want to say thanks to the parents for the pregame meals, getting the players to summer workouts and preschool practices and the opportunity to coach their kids, ‘ he said. ‘Thanks to administrators at BK8 and to assistant coaches Ryan Boyd, Ty Russ, and Kim Farrow. ‘
