BONIFAY – Two Tennessee residents are in custody after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase Friday, August 20, through Hartford, Alabama and into Holmes County.
Holmes County SheriffÂ’s Office was notified that Hartford Police Department was in pursuit of a vehicle headed south on State Road 79 and entering Holmes County at high rates of speed.
HCSO deputies responded and intercepted, joining the pursuit, which was still ongoing on Highway 79 south.
HCSO, along with the Bonifay Police Department, deployed spike strips around Highway 177 and State Road 79.
The suspect vehicle continued south, where HCSO performed a PIT maneuver, causing the vehicle to spin and preventing it from entering the City of Bonifay.
The driver, identified as Juwan Williams of Nashville, Tennessee, was taken into custody. According to law enforcement reports, Williams had four active warrants out of Tennessee and Georgia for escape and aggravated assault.
The passenger, identified Greg London, also of Nashville, is currently on probation out of Holmes County from a prior arrest in April.
Deputies also retrieved a bag containing marijuana that was thrown out during the chase.
Williams is charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, driving while license suspended, and possession of marijuana. Williams is additionally being held on the outstanding warrants and also faces charges out of Hartford.
London is charged with possession of marijuana and violation of probation.
