Haskins facing charges in Holmes County for sexual assault

Jamison Shane Haskins

After being sentenced in April in Washington County, Jamison Shane Haskins has been charged with two counts of sexual assault by person over 18 on a victim over age 12 under age 18 without physical force-violence in Holmes County.

Haskins was given three years in the Florida Department of Corrections and seven years of probation after pleading to lesser charges of felony battery in a plea agreement in the Washington County case. On May 30, he was arrested at the prison where he is currently serving his sentence and was arraigned on the new charges.

According to reports from the Bonifay Police Department and the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, the alleged incidents happened between May and September of 2020 with one in the county and the others in the city limits of Bonifay. In July 2020, BPD received an intake report from the Department of Children and Families alleging sexual abuse. The victim, who was out state at the time, was interviewed by the Major Crimes Division of the police department local to where the victim was visiting at the request of the BPD. During the interview the victim detailed two events involving Haskins. The first happened when Haskins had come over to the victim’s home to visit on his motorcycle but drank too much and was unable to drive home. According to the statement, during the night Haskins came into the victim’s room and laid down on their bed and took off the victim’s pants. The victim states Haskins then put his wrong spot in their wrong spot, further stating the wrong spots are the places they pee from. This continued until they heard a noise from the kitchen which caused Haskins to jump up, put his pants back on and leave the room.

The victim described another incident that had happened prior to the aforementioned one at a different location. During the interview the victim explained they had been spending the night away from home and was asleep on the floor and Haskins was in the bed. Haskins called the victims’ name and woke them up and told them to get in the bed with him, which the victim did and didn’t think anything of it as they looked at Haskins like a family member. The victim states Haskins took their pants off and tried to put his wrong spot in their wrong spot but could not do it.

Upon the victim returning to Florida, an interview was arranged to gather a statement in April 2021. According to a report from BPD, the victim’s statement did not waiver from the statement provided to the out of state agency.

In August 2020, HCSO Investigators were assigned a case for investigation into sexual abuse.  According to the arrest affidavit, the victim gave a sworn video statement and disclosed, “I was raped by Jamie Haskins.â€

The victim went on to describe in detail graphic and sexually explicit acts allegedly forced on them by Haskins at a house in Holmes County.

In December 2020, Haskins was interviewed by HCSO investigators. Haskins denied any sexual misconduct with the victim. “Nothing happened between [victim] and I,†stated Haskins. “Like, I mean nothing.†According to Haskins statement, he and the victim’s mother and her boyfriend did drugs together but the allegations of sexual misconduct are not true.

Haskins is set for a pre-trial hearing on September 20, in Holmes County.
