Three arrested in drug investigation

On December 17, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a residence on Highway 79 in connection with illegal narcotics activity.

During the search, deputies detained Krista Ballard and Kiah Smith, locating a small amount of cocaine in a dresser and drug paraphernalia in a room accessible to young children staying at the home.

Kiah Smith, currently on state probation, was arrested and charged with child neglect and violation of probation. Krista Ballard admitted to ownership of the cocaine and was charged with possession of cocaine.

While on scene, deputies also arrested Edia Harris, who arrived at the residence and had an active warrant for the sale of a controlled substance.
