Traffic stop on Highway 90 results in narcotics arrest

A traffic stop conducted by the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office on April 20, led to the arrest of two individuals and the discovery of illegal narcotics.

According to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling along Highway 90. The vehicle was operated by Bristina Obryan. A routine records check conducted during the stop revealed that Obryan had active warrants originating from Jackson County.

During the encounter, a passenger identified as Zola Slater was asked to exit the vehicle. While doing so, she was reportedly observed attempting to conceal an item between the seat and the center console. K9 Paycheck was deployed to conduct a free-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics.

Following the alert, deputies performed a search of the vehicle, which led to the discovery of over four grams of methamphetamine in the location where Slater had allegedly attempted to hide the item.

Obryan was placed under arrest based on the outstanding warrants. Slater was taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The case remains under investigation.
