Multiple agencies combined efforts to capture a sex offender who removed an electronic monitoring device and failed to properly register his residence upon release from the Florida Department of Corrections.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, 62-year-old David Alford was released April 24 and was required to report his residence as a part of his probation. The address he provided had numerous proximity violations.

When he was asked to provide a different address, Alford never made contact with WCSO again, and it was discovered that he had removed his electronic monitoring device and was considered absconded. Warrants were issued for his arrest and area agencies began their search for Alford.

Alford was later spotted near the city cemetery in Westville and fled on foot from Holmes County Sheriff’s deputies. HCSO, WCSO and the Holmes CI and Walton CI K9 teams searched for and apprehended Alford Sunday afternoon.
