STAFF REPORT | The Holmes County Advertiser
A Holmes County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 90 near Meredith Lane on November 7. Upon contact, the driver refused to provide identification, claiming to be a federal agent in transit who was not required to identify himself. The deputy informed the driver that failure to provide identification would result in his arrest and called for additional units.
While officers were awaiting backup, the driver fled the scene, initiating a pursuit eastbound on Highway 90 and reaching speeds over 100 mph. Another HCSO deputy was able to deploy spike strips in Caryville, causing the vehicle’s tires to deflate. The suspect then pulled over to the shoulder and was taken into custody.
The driver was identified as Keith Fulford from Indiana. Fulford faces charges of fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, as well as reckless driving.
