The Tyler Erickson Golf Scholarship is looking at giving up to $2500 per school that has a golf team in Holmes County.

Tyler Erickson is a Holmes County High School student who died in 2022 from a genetic heart disease. His father, Clint Erickson, recently spoke about the Scholarship’s aim.

“Every year, we spend time and people donate their time to have a golf tournament to raise money for this,” Clint said. “Big thanks to Heather Shelby and Brandon at Dogwood Lakes Golf Course for putting this on on the golf course because without them and all the donations and helpers, this wouldn’t even be possible.

Tyler’s cause of death was found out six months after his passing.

“The reason why we picked golf is because Tyler was on the golf team for Holmes County High School,” Clint said. “He also was the state beta president for the state of Florida. … All we ask is for the seniors to be looking out for the scholarship.”

Senior student golf players are encouraged to apply.

The scholarship money can be used for trade school, college, tuition fees, book fees, and assorted needs.

“There’s really no restrictions on it if awarded this money,” Clint said.

Helping out in this way feels good, and we are so thankful for everyone involved to make this possible Clint said.

“It’s a feeling of giving back and being able to use your son’s name for a good cause,” he said
