Students across Holmes District Schools joined together this week to honor America’s veterans through heartfelt ceremonies held at Ponce de Leon High School, Bethlehem High School, and Bonifay K-8 School. Each campus welcomed local service members and their families for a morning of tribute, remembrance, and gratitude.

The programs featured student-led presentations, patriotic songs, and moving poems written and read by students. Guests were treated to stirring performances from elementary through high school, with students waving American flags and proudly singing classics such as “God Bless the USA” and “You’re a Grand Old Flag.”

At Ponce de Leon High School, the ceremony opened with a presentation of colors and the symbolic “Missing Man Table,” honoring those who never returned home. Local veterans stood to applause as students recognized each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Bethlehem High School hosted a gymnasium filled with students and community members dressed in red, white, and blue. The Wildcats’ program included readings from students, messages of appreciation, and a singing performances to “America Rocks” and “God Bless the USA”.

Bonifay K-8’s assembly featured music, JROTC participation, and special recognition of veterans in attendance. Students from every grade level took part. Some through song, others through poetry and service reflections. Creating a touching moment of unity and patriotism.

Following the ceremonies, many schools hosted luncheons where veterans were served meals prepared by staff and students. Guest speakers, including retired service members, shared stories of courage, sacrifice, and the importance of honoring those who have served.
