During a brief Holmes District School Board meeting on Sept. 26, the board approved an urgent status condition for hiring instructional personnel for the fiscal year 2023-2024. 

Personnel recommendations were approved for Bonifay K-8 School, Ponce De Leon Elementary School, Holmes County High School, and Poplar High School. 

Bonifay K-8: Hiring of April Watkins, Jordan Dady and Alicia Higgins and the
resignation of Paige Lawson.

Ponce De Leon: Hiring of Tina Brannon and internal transfer of Kimberly Blain-Cobb.

Holmes County High: Resignation of Karen O’Steen, hiring of Major Justin Shaw, Erin Bevis, and Eva Watkins.

Poplar Springs High: Hiring of John Brad Hall, Jared Austin Owen, Mandy Worthy, Karon Register, Lacy Brown, and Missy Pierce.

Also approved were all overnight and out of state travel for Bethlehem Culinary to Tallahassee, Bethlehem FFA to Moultrie, Georgia, the 2023-2024 Holmes County High School girls basketball schedule, Poplar Springs FFA, ( District Forestry Competition), and Holmes County High School to Moultrie, Georgia. 

The next school board meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 9 a.m. in the Holmes District School Board room at 701 East Pennsylvania Avenue in Bonifay.
