The Holmes County Education Foundation recently unveiled the recipients of its 2024 classroom mini-grants. The initiative aims to bolster educational endeavors across the county, providing financial support to projects that promise to enrich the academic experience for students.
A total of seven educators from various schools have been awarded grants of $500 each, selected through a rigorous evaluation process.
The grant recipients include Jordan Dady, Kaitlyn Walker, and Debra Miles from Bonifay K-8 School; Kaycee Valcourt and Gail Mann from Bethlehem High School; Tammy Godwin from Holmes County High School; and Brionna Arrant from Poplar Springs High School.
The selection criteria focused on the clarity of the project, its potential impact, innovation, feasibility, and budget justification. The Foundation has chosen projects it believes will enhance the academic learning and broaden educational horizons for students.
The awarded projects span a variety of subjects and initiatives, ranging from STEM programs to literacy centers and even a field study focused on the ecosystems of Dune Lakes.
The Foundation recognizes the crucial role educators play in shaping the future and is committed to supporting their endeavors.
Through these grants, the foundation seeks to foster innovation and excellence in education across the county. Dr. Emily McCann, coordinator for the foundation, expressed her excitement about the impact of the grants, noting the joy of the teachers and the potential benefits for students.
“After I explained why I was in one class, the teacher smiled and said, ‘We won? Guys, this is for you! This is for the class” McCann said. “On behalf of Mr. Matt Tate, board president, and the entire board, the Holmes County Education Foundation congratulates the grant recipients and looks forward to the positive impact of their projects on student learning and achievement.”
