A routine traffic stop for speeding escalated into a pursuit on March 22, 2026, resulting in the arrest of a Holmes County man on multiple charges, according to a release from the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies reported that an officer attempted to stop a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 81. The driver failed to comply, initiating a pursuit that continued onto Horse Barn Road.
Authorities said the vehicle eventually pulled into a residential property, where the driver—identified as Bobby Ray Bohannon—was taken into custody without further incident.
A subsequent search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered several grams of methamphetamine.
Investigators also determined that the residence Bohannon entered had previously issued him a trespass warning in February.
Bohannon faces charges including fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, possession of methamphetamine, operating a vehicle with an expired tag, and trespassing.
The incident remains under investigation.
