Dothan man apprehended in Holmes County after Panama City Beach shooting incident

A 24-year-old Dothan, Alabama man was taken into custody Saturday evening following a reported disturbance involving a firearm at a Panama City Beach shopping center.

According to a release from the Panama City Beach Police Department, officers responded to the Shopps at Edgewater at approximately 7:57 p.m. on March 21 in reference to a reported altercation. During the incident, authorities say one individual discharged a firearm into the air.

The suspect, identified as Talvin Mackey, allegedly attempted to conceal the weapon in nearby bushes before fleeing the scene. Investigators determined Mackey had left the area and was attempting to return to Alabama.

Through coordinated efforts with surrounding law enforcement agencies, Mackey was located and apprehended in Holmes County. He is expected to be transported back to Bay County to face multiple charges, including discharging a firearm in public, improper exhibition of a firearm, and tampering with evidence.

Officials emphasized their continued commitment to public safety, noting that individuals who engage in criminal activity in Panama City Beach will be actively pursued and held accountable.
