Devin Collier was sworn in as Florida’s 14th Judicial Circuit’s newest judge during an investiture ceremony held at the Bay County Courthouse Friday afternoon.
Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Devin Collier to fill left after the retirement of Circuit Judge John Fishel II in January. He is assigned to circuit felonies in Holmes County.
“I’m grateful and humbled, and I appreciate the confidence the Governor and his staff and our community has placed in me,” said Collier in a press release at the time. “It was an absolute surprise. I come from very simple beginnings, and never had I imagined that I would be in a position to be a Circuit Judge.”
Collier graduated from Rutherford High School as well as from the Florida A&M University’s College of Law with honors in 2011.
He served as an appellate attorney at the Public Defender’s Office, a prosecutor and the lead attorney advisor at the U.S. Department of the Interior.
“I hope to do nothing more than to uniformly and consistently apply the law and for our citizenry to understand that they have a fair and impartial judge,” Collier told our media partners at WMBB.
