A late afternoon accident on Mother’s Day left one in the hospital in critical condition.
A 31-year-old Ponce de Leon man was eastbound on Highway 20 in a Dodge Ram pickup behind a Chevy Aveo driven by a 48-year-old Freeport man. As both vehicles approached JW Hollingsworth Road, the Chevrolet began to slow and prepare to make a left turn onto JW Hollingsworth Road. The driver of the Dodge failed to notice the Chevrolet preparing to make the turn and rear-ended the vehicle.
Both men were wearing seatbelts according to the Florida Highway Patrol and alcohol is not listed as a factor. The Freeport man is in critical condition while the Ponce de Leon man suffered minor injuries.
