Pre-trial held for for former BPD officer

A pre-trial conference was held Thursday, July 27, in Holmes County for former Bonifay Police Officer Jody Long. Long is facing a misdemeanor battery charge from a March 2023 incident in which he is accused of using excessive force during a domestic disturbance call.

The incident was captured by body camera footage and later investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

The case is scheduled for another pre-trial on August 17; however, Long’s attorney, Kerry Adkison, is hoping to have the case cleared up before then, stating in court that he is negotiating a plea deal.
