In a message from Holmes District School Board, Superintendent Buddy Brown stated:
We are monitoring Tropical Storm Helene as it moves toward the Gulf of Mexico. All predictions indicate it will continue to develop into a major hurricane prior to making landfall. While predictions are placing landfall somewhere in the Big Bend coastal area the lessons of past storms of this magnitude have not escaped our attention.
Holmes District Schools will be closed this Thursday, September 26, 2024.
We will continue to monitor this storm closely and will notify the public immediately if additional days of school closures are warranted. We encourage everyone to monitor all emergency management notifications and weather alerts and remember the importance of remaining calm and planning for all outcomes.
