The 5K Bull Run, one of the events leading up to the Northwest Florida Championship Rodeo (NFCR), took place Saturday, September 27, along Nebraska Avenue in Bonifay. Despite a foggy morning, over 70 participants met at the First United Methodist Church playground for the 8 a.m. start. Organizers Panhandle Lumber & Supply recognized first-place finishers in several categories, including men’s, women’s, walker, and team divisions, along with a 1 mile Kids Fun Run division. Patrick Hawkins took first for the men with a time of 21:19, and Brittany Lunt led the women at 26:42. The top walker was contestant “Thunderbyrd”, finishing in 41:11. In the team division, the Chipley JROTC team of Gabriel Halderson, Nation Simmons, and Brylan Wilson claimed first place with a time of 24:45. In the Kids Fun Run, the youngest runner of the day, Nate Taylor, 8, placed first among boys with a time of 8:46. Emberly Baggett was the top girl, finishing in 8:55.
