On Saturday, April 18, a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Alfredo Bonillas on Highway 79 in Esto. The vehicle refused to stop and continued north on Highway 79 toward Alabama, initiating a pursuit.
The pursuit continued several miles into Alabama until another deputy performed a rolling roadblock, successfully bringing the pursuit to an end.
Bonillas was found to be highly intoxicated and did not have a valid driver’s license. He was taken into custody by Geneva County authorities and booked into the Geneva County Jail on charges of DUI.
Bonillas will also face charges in Holmes County for fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, as well as driving without a valid driver’s license.
HCSO states they remain committed to ensuring the safety of roadways and holding those who violate the law accountable.
