Community rallies behind Cami Morgan with May 23 and June benefit events

Support continues to grow for Holmes County resident Cami Dewees Morgan, who is battling stage 4 metastatic cancer, as friends, family, and neighbors come together for a series of fundraisers to help with her recovery and medical expenses.

The first event, the “Cakes and Plates” benefit, will take place Saturday, May 23, at Ponce de Leon City Hall. 2 Sticks BBQ will serve plates from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with each $15 plate including Boston butt, slaw, baked beans or macaroni and cheese, a roll, and dessert. A silent cake auction will run concurrently, with bids accepted in person and live on Facebook at @DeeCruce. Cake donations will be accepted from 10 to 11 a.m. the morning of the event.

Also taking place that day is a firearm raffle fundraiser to further support Morgan as she faces this difficult health battle. Only 150 tickets will be sold at $100 each, with one winner receiving all three firearms featured in the giveaway: a Henry .20 cal rifle, a Taurus Toro G3 9 mm, and a Post Martin 9 mm. The drawing will be held during the Ponce de Leon event, which will also include barbecue plates, fellowship, and silent auctions for cakes and gift baskets.

The fundraiser is being held with support from the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff John Tate, and Cold Steel of Bonifay.

Community members say the effort reflects the same spirit seen through Cami’s Warriors, the online group that has rallied around Morgan since her cancer diagnosis. That support will continue with the upcoming Cami’s Courage Classic, a benefit barrel‑racing show scheduled for June 5–6 at the Baker Covered Arena in Baker. The event will feature more than $3,750 in added money, along with a silent auction and fish fry, drawing participants and supporters together for a weekend of competition and compassion.

All proceeds from both events will go toward Morgan’s recovery and medical expenses. Ponce de Leon City Hall is located at 1580 Highway 90 in Ponce de Leon. For more information or to purchase raffle tickets, message Dee Cruce on Facebook.
