A routine traffic stop in Holmes County led to the arrest of two individuals after deputies discovered methamphetamine and a firearm inside their vehicle, according to the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, June 23, deputies reportedly observed a vehicle occupied by a white male and female pull into the Pilot Travel Center and park at the gas pumps. Deputies noted that neither occupant exited the vehicle to purchase fuel. After a short time, the vehicle left the parking lot, and deputies observed the female switch to the driver’s seat.
A deputy later conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for a traffic violation. The male passenger was identified as Craig Brooks, and the female driver was identified as Hannah Chandler.
During the stop, deputies developed probable cause to search the vehicle. A search reportedly revealed methamphetamine and a firearm concealed beneath the passenger‑side floor mat. According to deputies, Brooks admitted ownership of the methamphetamine.
A records check indicated that Brooks is a convicted felon, currently on parole, and has a suspended driver’s license. Chandler reportedly told deputies she was aware that Brooks did not possess a valid license.
Following the investigation, both Brooks and Chandler were arrested and transported to the Holmes County Jail.
