Survey crews and utility markers have become a familiar sight along Highway 79 and surrounding streets in Esto, where a major broadband infrastructure project is now underway. The work is part of an initiative by Tritech Fiber, a Holmes County-based company, to expand high-speed internet access throughout the region.
According to a release from the Town of Esto, Tritech Fiber was awarded $14.6 million in February 2024 through the Florida Broadband Opportunity Program. Of that amount, nearly $5 million is designated specifically for expanding service within the Esto area. The project will bring fiber optic infrastructure along Highway 79, extending to the Alabama state line. Completion is anticipated by October 2026.
Survey crews are currently identifying public rights-of-way where fiber optic cables will be installed. The markings include blue flags from Esto Water Works, along with other color-coded flags and paint from various utility providers. These markers are used to avoid interference with existing utility services during construction.

The fiber expansion is part of broader efforts to enhance digital connectivity and infrastructure in Holmes County.
